I wrote my very first post on intermittent fasting in May 2019. I was 48 years of age at the time and was close to my menopause. Because of a decrease in estrogen, weight gain can occur before and after menopause.
Why did I decide to lose weight?
There are many reasons. One reason is that I want clothes that I love and feel good in. Second, I wanted to improve my mental health and feel better about myself. The truth was, I was in a bad mood a lot of the time. In 2019, I set a goal of losing 10 lbs in three months through intermittent fasting. The meal plan that I developed for the 16/8 intermittent fasting is my most popular Pinterest pin. Fasting has been around for almost two years and I’m seeing more interest in it. I’m happy to share my experience with intermittent fasting.
Intermittent Fasting Results
After 2 years of a changed lifestyle, I’m happy to report that my weight goal is closer than ever. In January 2019, my weight was 118.8 lbs. I am a size 6 or 8. Fast forward to January 2019, I weighed 118.8 lbs in size 6 or 8. Yes, that’s right, in 2 years of Intermittent Fasting I lost just over 10 lbs and also dropped 2 sizes. It is important to be slow and smart when trying to lose weight during menopause. The result is satisfactory for me personally. It’s not perfect. I’ve encountered some roadblocks and side effects along my journey. These are things I will share with you today.
I also have moderate exercise in my daily life. I aim to exercise 40 minutes each day, Monday through Friday. You should be aware of the side effects.
- Reduced food intake can cause constipation. I take this multivitamin containing probiotics.
2. Due to rapid weight loss and aging, “Diet face” is a result. Five months into Intermittent fasting, I noticed that the signs of aging were more apparent. My smile lines and mouth were becoming more prominent due to the loss of collagen, elastin and collagen. To prevent these signs of aging from getting worse, I began using the Nuface microcurrent device one year ago. I have seen some visible results in tightening my skin and lifting loosening skin.

What I learned:
- The most weight loss occurs in the first few weeks following a start
- Be patient and don’t expect a quick weight loss. Instead, focus on slow, steady weight loss and staying healthy.
It is difficult to lose weight and keep a youthful appearance in menopausal women. But it is possible. We only need patience, mindfulness, and perseverance.
